Oasis offer unheard demo ahead of ‘Be Here Now’ reissue

by Stephen Charlton2016/09/23

English rockers Oasis are offering fans a free download of unheard demo Going Nowhere. The beautiful lo-fi recording is cut from the band’s forthcoming reissue of their third album Be Here Now. No email sign-up or any bullcrap is required to get song, simply hit download on the hosting site and the track is yours.

Going Nowhere was originally released as a B-side for Stand by Me, which was the second single off the 1997 LP. The original track featured the full Oasis band, stately strings and even a horn section. In contrast the demo comprises a single acoustic guitar and Liam Gallagher’s vocal track. It was obviously cut straight to tape and it’s a testament to how sometimes less is more.

Be Here Now gets massive three-disc re-release

The three-disc reissue of Be Here Now is part of the promotion for the Oasis band exhibition Chasing the Sun. The re-release is due out on October 10. It features a remastered version of the original album, seven B-sides from the three UK single releases, live songs and a full disc of demos. Noel Gallagher remixed D’You Know What I Mean? earlier this year, and that’s also included. He commented:

“As the years went by I’d started to accept that the songs on Be Here Now were in fact insanely long… too long! Someone (I can’t remember who) had the idea that we re-visit, re-edit the entire album for posterity’s sake. We got as far as the first track before we couldn’t be arsed anymore and gave up… It does sound fucking mega though!”

Oasis doco Supersonic debuts next month

Just in case you haven’t had your Oasis fill yet, the band also plan to release the Supersonic documentary next month. The film is in-depth look at the band at the height of their powers from 1993-96. It will debut on October 2 in the UK before a nationwide theatrical release on October 14. The UK Blu-Ray and DVD release will follow on October 31. US audiences will be able to catch the one-night-only theatrical release on October 26.

Liam Gallagher fires salvo at Noel over Supersonic promotion

No Oasis news is complete without some petty squabbling from the Gallaghers, and the brothers haven’t let us down. Liam Gallagher took to Twitter earlier today to fire a salvo at Noel for refusing to promote Supersonic:

“So the Ronnie Corbett of rock n roll aka Noel Gallagher not doing press not attending premiere for Oasis film 2 words SHIT BAG LG x”

Not content with leaving it there, Liam also added:

“Poosay LG x”.

Don’t expect the attacks to stop any time soon as Liam recently told Q:

“I’ve heard they really annoy him. Someone told me the other week that the only thing that does his nut in are my tweets. Good. They will carry on and they will get bigger and better.”

Liam recently revealed that he has a new album on the way. It’s not related to Oasis or his most recent project Beady Eye. However, the frontman has refused to call it ‘going solo’ despite writing all the material for the release.
